We have immediate openings for Aluminum Rolling Mill Operators to be responsible for following all Job Safety Analysis, Standard Work Instructions, and Quality requirements while monitoring and controlling the rolling operations performed in the process of producing aluminum coils before they are slit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous quality improvement in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment – 5 S Condition
  • Adhere to all JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis) and Standard Work Instructions.
  • Assist in writing and reviewing operational and safety JSAs to improve procedures as well as develop new JSAs based on observations and experiences.
  • Safely produce and deliver a quality product that meets all applicable customer requirements while minimizing costs.
  • Assist in the initial phases of the hot and cold rolling process by ensuring that aluminum sheets are properly placed into the slots on the rewind mandrels while adhering to all safety procedures.
  • Observes the aluminum feeding process by carefully watching for any quality defects and/or safety concerns and reporting any identified issues to the designated individuals.
  • Provides support with the various additional quality checks and production verification activities such as verifying the width/weight of coils and then providing that information to the designated individuals for entry onto the master coil ticket.
  • Ensures that all work areas are clean and free of any debris that can interfere in the production process or that could potentially cause a hazard for individuals in the Plant.
  • Maintains contact with the other mill operators and/or Shift Supervisor ensuring they are aware of any problems or difficulties that arise during the rolling process.
  • Performs other functions and duties as needed or requested.
  • Set Up and Tear Down Equipment Safely
  • Safely operate large mobile equipment including but not limited to  bucket loaders, forklifts, ariel lifts, and overhead cranes.
  • Assist maintenance team with diagnosis and troubleshooting issues with the equipment.
  • Completes and maintains accurate and complete records of production activities through manual and IQMS Software.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Reports and reviews any unusual conditions with the Rolling Manager or Rolling Supervisor.
  • Provide problem-solving information to other Mill Operators to prevent off-grade production.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 years of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work Rotating Shifts
  • Ability to work 12-hour Shifts
  • Ability to work Mandatory Overtime
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and specifications
  • Basic Microsoft Computer skills, IQMS Preferred
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision or in a team environment.
  • Diligence with the ability to identify defects and suggest corrections.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle many concurrent activities while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or GED

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to perform all essential physical functions of working in a manufacturing environment such as, climbing, standing, bending, reaching, and squatting.
  • Hands to finger use – fine motor skills such as, turning, grasping, pinching, wrapping, writing, typing, etc.
  • Must be able to lift to fifty pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Working with and near electrical and mechanical machinery and equipment.
  • Working in an uncontrolled climate.
  • Working with Hot and Sharp aluminum
  • Rotating shift work and overtime required.
